The National Honors Society is switching gears for the upcoming school year, with previous advisers Amanda Everett and Heather Tedesco stepping down. The void will be filled by media specialist Stephanie Gosselin and math teacher Lori Ditto.
This summer, a new social media app took WA student's smartphones by storm: Yik Yak. For those who are unaware, Yik Yak is best described as an anonymous, location based "twitter". Students within a certain radius of each other can "yak" something (create a post on the app) and it will be placed on a feed that is viewed in a style similar to Twitter.
Students from all classes were able to meet together for an outdoor movie night on August 28th, and despite skepticism from students, had enough attendees to be determined a successful event.
On Wednesday, May 28th, the annual Mock Accident was held out on the WA track, in hopes of depicting the dangers of drunk driving with the senior class.
Westford's 49th Kiwanis Apple Blossom Festival occurred on May 17th. Alicia Luther was crowned Apple Blossom Queen, and the Westford Sportsmen's Club was announced winner of the Roudenbowl.
WA recently installed a new water fountain system that will eventually reduce the carbon footprint of the school by encouraging students to re-use water bottles instead of wasting disposable ones.
