Westford Academy suffers a close loss in the playoffs

The Westford Academy Grey Ghosts played a great game but in the very end, suffered a defeat to the undefeated Gloucester Fisherman.

The first quarter began with a failed drive and a punt from the Grey Ghosts. However, The Grey Ghosts came back and forced a fumble into a quick touchdown. Gloucester blitzed heavily throughout the first quarter, and answered with a touchdown run. Westford Academy ended the quarter with a touchdown. The score was 14-7 WA with the lead.

The second quarter started with a Gloucester touchdown run followed by a fumble with WA receiving possession. WA scored soon after. The second quarter ended with WA up 21-14.

The third quarter started with a running touchdown by Gloucester. Confusion soon ascended as Westford fumbled, then Gloucester fumbled, and then Westford fumbled again, with Westford ending up with possession of the ball.

Westford Academy scored in the beginning of the fourth to make the score 28-28. Near the end of the 4th, with about 1 minute and 30 seconds left to go, Gloucester made a running touchdown to put themselves up by seven over Westford Academy. Westford was not able to answer and Gloucester won and will move on to Gillette Stadium.
