Whether it’s for that New Year’s resolution, that extra push for that spring sport, or to just stay in-shape, “going to the gym” is now a popular phrase among adults and especially teens.
This year the New Year’s Celebration seemed to have brought lots of adults trying to burn off that extra weight they put on over holiday break or in order to keep that New Year’s resolution of living a healthier lifestyle. Nearby gyms are not only packed with parents working out, but this new year has also brought of adolescents pumping iron or hitting the treadmill.
Boost Fitness near the intersection of Four Corners is home to many teens, but cost is always a factor. For those parents not willing to pay for the more costly gym memberships, a less expensive local gym, Westford Racquet and Fitness Club, is also very beneficial as it provides the normal gym experience with a basketball court, tennis courts and swimming pool.
Although The Westford Racquet and Fitness Club has a variety of workouts, most Westford Academy students are seen in the workout area. This desire to be “in-shape” can be seen by the popularity of Boost Fitness and Gold’s Gym in Chelmsford because of their high quality workout equipment. This attitude for fitness has students and teachers commuting to Chelmsford in order to get their work out “high”.
Although the new year brought this surge for the gym, a decrease in this work out phase can be seen in the coming months as some give up on their New Year’s Resolution. For those who do want to keep in shape or start working out, there are plenty of local gyms full of similar teens and adults.
While the opportunities and resolutions to maintain a steady workout regimen are vast and numerous at the start of a new year, it is always interesting to see how long these commitments last. However, with all these chances to go to the gym, everybody should make that push to become and stay healthy for the new year.
