The Westford Academy Girls’ Track team had one of the best seasons they’ve had in a long time, while only losing one meet. The team was led by senior captains Jacki Harding, Mel Almasian, Rachel Murray, and Rachel Porter. Seniors Jacki Harding (St. Joseph’s), Mel Almasian (UNH), and Rachel Murray (Wheaton) will be continuing their track careers at the collegiate level.

This season, the girls won their first DCL Championship in ten years due to their stellar performance. At DCLs, many runners, such as underclassmen Bella Baretto, Maia Wahlquist, and Megan Frazee performed exceptionally well. Many other runners also contributed to the girls’ first DCL win in a decade.

A few runners made it further than DCLs and competed for Westford Academy in States. Senior Jacki Harding, senior Mel Almasian, freshman Grace Carroll and senior Rachel Murray made it to States for the 4x100m relay, but did not place. Harding and Almasian also made it to States for their performance in the 100m. Almasian placed sixth and Harding placed seventh.

Along with the DCL win, Megan Frazee set the school record for the pentathlon as only a freshman.

“The pentathlon was an amazing experience and I’m honored to have the record. I can’t wait for next season already,” Frazee said.
