On Thursday December 9th, the WA Track Team took on Boston Latin at the Reggie Lewis Center near Boston. The Boys team put up a number of good performances, dominating Latin 77-19.
Before the meet on the bus into Boston, runner Reed Peraner had his portable speakers blasting music, as he does every meet, to pump up the team on their way to the competition. Then as the team arrived at “the Reggie” coach Archuambault of the boys’ team, gave a quick speech with one main point, give the effort they would give any other team.
“Word of the day is “impress,” impress your teammates, impress your coaches, and show Latin what you’ve got,” said Archambault, hoping to energize the team to perform at its best.
One top performance of the day was Nick Scuito who certainly impressed with a time of 4:51 in the mile. He took home first place for WA in that event.
Senior Adonis Carrasco competed and won the high jump with a final jump of 6’0. Carrasco came close to breaking the school record of 6’2.
” I wanted to get that record and was really close,” said Carrasco after the meet.
One of the most impressive performances of the day had to be Ryan Hurley. This senior was competing in his first ever track and finished 3rd in the high jump and 3rd in the long jump.
Overall the entire team preformed well, sweeping many events. Westford enjoyed the bus ride home, as Archambault called out the final score of the meet, and the team rejoiced all the way back to WA.
