WA Girls’ Field Hockey were defeated against Lincoln-Sudbury on Monday, September 18th. They lost by a final score of 6-0.

“We had a sloppy defense and we need to work on our offense,” senior Co-captain Caroline Gulla said.

The numerous Lincoln-Sudbury fans that came to today’s game may have fueled to Lincoln-Sudbury advantage. However, there were not many WA supporters.

Throughout the game, the Ghosts played defensively, defending their goal intensely. During the first half of the game, Lincoln-Sudbury was able to score a goal in the first seven minutes. The Ghosts attempted a more offensive play style following the first goal, but they were unsuccessful.

Lincoln-Sudbury continued playing aggressively, closing in on the Ghost’s net and managed to score a few more goals in the first half. The score was 4-0 by the time the first half was over.

During the second half, the Ghosts continued trying their defensive strategy, but with made no progress. Lincoln-Sudbury was able to score two more goals by the end of the game, ending with a final score of 6-0.

“It was a bad loss, we have lots to work on,” senior co-captain, Hannah Keefe said.

The next home game is on Saturday, September 23rd, against Newton-South.
