In a fast paced volleyball game, WA played against Boston Latin School. In addition, it was also WA’s senior night for all of senior of the volleyball team.

The game started off with WA in the possession of the ball. Within the first few minutes of the game, WA scored two points, giving them an early lead.

However, BLS came back and was able to tie the game at 3-3. A few minutes later, the score stayed relatively close within the next minutes. The ball went back and fourth with great defensive stops between both teams. WA’s #12, Stephen Wang, made a great play to score a point breaking their tie, making the score 7-6.

BLS, however, fought back, constantly having the score multiple times. By the end of the first set, WA had won 25-19.

After a short timeout, both teams switched sides, and continued the game. Once again, WA made fast-breaking points, giving them a lead, 3-0. Within two minutes, WA scored multiple points in a row, creating a large lead of 8-1. During their lead, WA senior #10, Ismael Ralsten, made a great play. Ralsten hit the ball back, which then hit the ceiling and it plummeted right back down with nobody to hit it back. In addition to this surprising and different play, Ralsten was able to score two more points with his powerful spikes.

WA continued their lead in the second game, and it ends with WA winning their second game 25-12.

The third game began, with much anxiety in the air. If WA could win this last game, WA would win the game against BLS.

BLS, knew this however; and upped their game. BLS took the lead first against WA, 3-0. WA, however, was able to tie this up 5-5, a little later. WA junior #20, Michael Baltayan, made great blocks that made WA score. However, BLS takes back the lead, 15-16. BLS then managed to maintain their lead 21-22  for the next five minutes. WA was able to tie the game, and made a final push.

WA later broke the tie, and won the third game with a score of 25-23.

Not only was this game tight, but it was also senior night. Coach Russell Coward was proud of his seniors after the game.

“Overall, the boys played really well. It has been a great four years with this team,” Coward said.

Winning a game is special, and to end the season off with a win on senior night, makes it that much more joyous.
