On Monday, December 21st, the Girls’ and Boys’ Swim and Dive Teams took on Lincoln-Sudbury at UMass Lowell.

The competition was heated both teams winning multiple races but in the end it was Westford Academy that took the win. The girls won in a close run, ninety-one to eighty-five, and the boys, ninety-eight to seventy-seven.

Westford started off strong in the first event, Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay, with the team consisting of sophomores Isabella Xu and Katherine Pawlak, senior Emma Gosselin, and junior Ali Kea, winning with a comfortable lead with another Westford team finishing second just four seconds after.

The next competition, Boys 200 Yard Medley Relay, kept the hype going taking first by ten seconds. The team consisted of seniors Jeffrey Yao and Kyle Pilachowski, junior Jason Jung, and sophomore Sean Riordan, who all put in terrific effort.

Westford also took first in Boys 200 Yard Freestyle from senior Jack Koravos, Girls 50 Yard Freestyle from Pawlak, and Boys 50 Yard Freestyle from Pilachowski.

Diving did well along with swimming with sophomore Samantha Blanc winning it overall with an impressive 250.20 score and senior Hannah Rosenstein close behind with 238.05 in third.

The swimming success continued after diving with Westford winning the next six events which included the Butterfly and various yard length freestyles.

One of these events was the Boys 500 Yard Freestyle in which Pilachowski and Yao dominated with times of 5:01.32 and 5:07.04 as they lapped the Lincoln-Sudbury contestants who finished more than forty seconds behind them.

Lincoln Sudbury started to mount a comeback in the later events, but with wins in both of the 200 Yard Freestyle Relays, Westford stayed in front and clutched the victory.
