On Thursday, October 15, Westford Academy lost to Concord Carlisle 1-0 in a last minute thriller.

The game started off pretty even as possession transferred back and forth between both teams for most of the half. It became more intense as the clock went down.

During the first half of the game, Concord-Carlisle made many attempts at the goal, but all were stopped by freshman goalie Alex Wood.

The second half of the game became more extreme. WA had the soccer ball for about 20 minutes, making multiple attempts at the goal, but were unsuccessful in scoring.

When the game was down to the last two minutes, the score was still tied at 0-0. One of Concord-Carlisle’s players managed to get past WA’s defense and score a goal in extra time. The game ended with a score of 1-0 resulting in another loss for WA.

“I thought we played terrific.” said Coach Dileo, “In the second half, there was a 20 minute stretch that we were down on their end attacking and putting up good scoring opportunities.”
