Golf team achieves victory at DCLs
With the fall sports coming to a close, many teams have endured victory and defeat. With Captain Jack Ryan at the helm, the small, limited golf team has just gained a major victory.
The 2009 season had been a bit of a destructive blow. In the season’s Dual County League, the team had lost to Newton-South. The team had also lost six senior starters. This defeat and loss of players had lowered the morale of the team for the upcoming season.
With the opening of the 2010 season, the team had obtained a few new additions. One freshman, three sophomores and one new junior were added to replace the lost seniors. These fresh recruits were very promising and could hopefully lead the team to a victory this season.
The team succeeded in their grand endeavor. The team finished 12-3 and a 9-1 in the DCLs, winning the league.
“It was definitely a big win for us.” says junior Lance Luther. “I didn’t believe we would actually win and it was very surprising. We were surely the underdogs this year.”
So what’s next season going to look like? The team expects some green freshmen, and hopefully the team will mature.
“If we win next year and become two time champions, well, that might just be a Cinderella story.” says Luther.
