WA’s Boys’ Tennis team faced off in a match against Acton Boxboro on May 21st and was unfortunately defeated 1-4.

The games begun with full effort from both teams. WA’s varsity starters Christian and Michael Colomb headed the team, with cheers of support from the crowd. Despite hard play from the team, WA fell quickly to AB in a short match only spanning one hour.

Anant Agrawal and Arjun Prakash were the first doubles team to fall, only winning one point in their game.

(From left to right) Marcus Lawrence and Michael Colomb display great sportsmanship after their grueling match against one another.

“We were crushed, but we fought hard, and that’s what matters,” said Agrawal as he left the court.

Michael’s match ended next, bringing the tally to 0-2 in AB’s favor. Despite the loss, spectators were still satisfied with his playing.

“He played really well today, and it was just the heat that brought him down in the end. It’s really hard to run around out there for an hour and still hit with full force,” said Matthew Loomis, another member of the team watching as Michael’s match played out.

Neehath Malisetty brought the first win to WA, sporting a large grin as he walked off the court. This was a major boost in confidence for the rest of the team, who began to cheer on Christian with enthusiasm.

Unfortunately, Christian was vanquished on the court, ending the match with a score of 1-3, giving the entire match to AB. The final match was cut short, as AB was in the lead when they were announced victorious, bringing the score to 1-4 with a win for AB.

WA has one final match left for the Boys’ Tennis team, and the coach was looking forward to having fun at match instead of focusing on winning. The rest of the team felt the same way, and despite the loss, smiles plastered their faces as they walked onto the court for a final team meeting, looking forward to their final game of the season.

At the moment, the next match is scheduled for Wednesday May 28th, but that is subject to change.

The team meets together after their loss to look forward to their next game and discuss what went wrong on the court.
