Rec Ball power rankings: Week 4

By Kyle Auger, Tim Delouchrey, John Devereaux, Andy Dunn, & Ethan Walshe
The Rec Ball Committee

This week’s rankings:

1. Knicks (5-0) Another week, and another win for the Knicks. This victory came against our previously top ranked team, the Heat. They won by a decisive 10 points in a game that showcased Drew Leblanc and Zach Miller’s dominant scoring. They play with a high energy and great chemistry, keeping them at an undefeated record on the season.

2. Supersonics (5-0) The Sonics had another overtime game this week after beating the Jazz in double OT the week before. They took the Rockets to an extra period, where they ended up winning by seven. This victory was due to Nick Mizzoni’s 30 points. Mizzoni has been a dominant force all season, and with the help of a well rounded roster, the Sonics stayed undefeated.

3. Jazz (4-1) A trade this week sent Glynn Johnson, formerly a member of the Jazz, to the Thunder. The Jazz will surely take a hit from this, but they still managed to pull out a tough win this week. They beat the Blazers by one on a last second shot from Sean Coppinger. They played with their usual great chemistry, and were able to get the win without Johnson’s superior rebounding and solid defense.

4. Heat (4-1) The Heat, previously ranked as the top team on our rankings, fell to the Knicks this weekend. Although they suffered a 10 point loss, they still boast a 4-1 record, as well as a great point differential. They weren’t able to get going as a team this weekend, with only four players scoring. Don’t expect this trend to continue however, as the Heat are a team that expects to make a deep playoff push.

5. Thunder (2-3) All eyes were on the Thunder this weekend. The addition of Glynn Johnson to the previously 0-3 team was certainly a huge boost for them. The Thunder won their game on Sunday by 10, topping Andrew Clark and the Magic. They also won on Monday by a shocking 35 points against the Clippers. Though they are still below .500, these past two wins are promising, and they appear to be the fastest rising team in the league.
