1) Visit Witch’s Woods
Open Thursday to Sunday through October, Witch’s Woods is a scary, if somewhat pricey, way to experience all the frights that Halloween has to offer. Tickets are usually $32, although they are reduced on certain days, and include entrance to the Haunted Hayride, Castle Morbid, Nightmare Mansion and the 3D Keeper’s Crypt. Without buying a ticket, visitors can still enjoy attractions such as games and rides.
Thursday – Sunday 6:30 – 10:30 through November 2nd
2) Visit a Pumpkin Patch
Love dried pumpkin seeds? Need a pumpkin to carve this season? There are many local farms and pumpkin stands open throughout the season. One example is the West Chelmsford United Methodist Pumpkin Patch. Proceeds from sales go towards the Lowell Transitional Living Center, St. Paul’s Soup Kitchen and the Greater Lowell Open Food Pantry, so it’s a great way to help someone else enjoy the holiday.
3) Throw a Halloween party with friends
Get together with a few bags of candy and dress up. It might be high school, but you can still have fun without going out trick-or-treating. You can play games, eat food or just hang out.
4) Have a horror movie night with lots friends and plenty of popcorn!
5) Bake Halloween treats

6) Carve a pumpkin
No matter what age you are, it’s always fun to carve a pumpkin in October and decorate your front steps or driveway with lights on Halloween night. Pumpkins can either be carved, or decorated on the outside, so it’s a great activity to do with friends, younger siblings or at a party.

Be sure to bake the seeds after you scoop them out of the pumpkin! With a little salt, these make a tasty alternative to all the candy that will likely be all over your house for the next few weeks.
7) Dress up and hand out candy
It’s tough to find time to step away from homework or college applications and get out to do something fun. Even if you do not have the time to get together with friends, you can still dress up and help hand out candy to the kids going door to door. This will get you involved in the holiday and also give you a bit of an excuse to eat the candy out of the bowl by the door.
