Chamber Music Named State Festival Winner

By Devon Lindsey
Staff Writer

On Saturday March 27th Westford Academy was named a Festival Winner of the final round of the Massachusetts high school drama guild festival.

The cast was the eleventh school to perform, starting off the third and final day of festival which had begun on Thursday the 25th. The show finished just in time with fifteen seconds to spare from the forty minute limit thanks to some quick thinking by stage manager Jordan Welch when the show started to run too long.

With the forty minute time limit proving to be a potential issue, a plan B was made in the event that the performance was not running as quickly as planned. In the last few minutes of the performance both actor Mark Fingerhut and the crew members running the light and sound affects knew that they would need to put plan B into affect but there was some confusion as to what exactly plan B was. However despite the confusion the ending went better than the original plan.

In addition to being named Festival Winner’s various members of the cast and crew were named to the All Star Cast. Kate Sulka, Bobby Esposito, Jordan Welch, Dan Bubin, and Emily Moler were recognized once again for Set Design. The Costume design team, consisting Karilyn Howe, Carter McAlister, Liza Gosselin, and Lizzy Benway were named to the All Star Cast as well. Barbra Morrison for her role as Queen Isabella, and Katie Wright for her role as Gertrude Stein were also named to the All Star Cast.
