A victory 25 years in the making: girls’ cross country wins states

Ian Strauss, Staff Writer Nov 23, 2024
“I am really glad my freshman season ended this way. I could tell that our team put in a lot of effort and work over the course of the season. Especially because it was our last year with the seniors Rosey and Sydney, I am so happy they are leaving WA cross country as state champions. As a freshman I at first really underestimated how much time and dedication it took to be on this team, but also how much it would pay off in the end after our win. Unknowingly, every grueling workout the coaches planned was now worth it with our repeating successes at not only the state meet but breaking PR's as well. Overall, this win really proved that our team is stronger than I could have imagined and I'm so excited to see what the future has in store for the next season,” freshman Diya Shrestha said.
