Last Friday night at Westford Academy, the annual Night of Round Ball occurred. The event included multiple basketball games that featured the Westford Youth Basketball Association rec ball all-stars, boys and girls, and a fun game between Westford faculty members and the Westford Police.
The night was full of WA wins. The Girls’ Junior Varsity team beat the WYBA’s senior girls’ all-star team by only a few points. The JV squad was led by freshman Emily Bramanti, who was shooting lights out.
The next game was the JV boys’ team against the senior boys’ all-star team. Unlike the girls’ game, this game wasn’t close. The JV team started the game on a 9-0 run. This game was led by Sophomore Michael Baltayan who dominated the game in points and rebounds. Baltayan led his JV team to a double digit win against the seniors.
The last game that was played was the most anticipated game of the night- the faculty members against the police. The Westford faculty members were led by English teacher and Varsity coach of the Boys’ Basketball team Mr. Bramanti. Bramanti started the game off with a spectacular circus shot. Throughout the game, Bramanti was hitting shots and getting his team involved.
The police came into the game on fire, and their defense was superb throughout the game. This game was close at halftime, but once the second half started, the police took over. They would eventually win the game and show great sportsmanship afterwards.
During all these games, we had three commentators who narrated it. These commentators were juniors Pat Coffee and Karly Bigham along with Senior Tommy Jacobsen. Throughout the game, they had the crowd and players smiling as they provided great humor and spot on play calling.
