The Ghostwriter had the opportunity to sit down and interview Jack Donovan for our Student Spotlight series. Read the transcript below for our full interview!
Jack Donovan is a junior here at Westford Academy. He is a student athlete who plays hockey and lacrosse, and aspires to play lacrosse later on in his college career. In this interview, Donovan discusses how he would describe himself in one word, something about himself others wouldn’t know, who in the world he would most like to share a meal with, and more.
Q: What is your name?
A: Jack Donovan.
Q: What grade are you in?
A: I’m a junior.
Q: If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be?
A: I think hard working because being an athlete and a student takes a lot going through high school. So hard working is definitely important [as well as] getting your schoolwork done.
Q: Do you play hockey?
A: Yeah, and lacrosse.
Q: Which do you like better, hockey or lacrosse?
A: Probably lacrosse.
Q: Can you tell us something about yourself that others wouldn’t know?
A: I’m very into dogs. I recently got a dog, so a lot of people probably wouldn’t have known that before.
Q: What kind of dog?
A: She’s a bernedoodle.
Q: If you could have a meal with any person in the world, who would it be?
A: Probably Michael Jordan. He’s very successful as an athlete, very popular.
Q: Do you watch basketball?
A: Kind of, not a lot.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
A: Probably Spain. I know a couple of my friends have been there so they’ve said it’s really pretty and really fun.
Q: Have you traveled outside of the country before?
A: No, I haven’t.
Q: Where’s your favorite place that you have been?
A: Probably Texas at my grandparent’s house. We went in the summer so it was really hot and really nice out.
Q: Do you see your grandparents often?
A: Not a lot, but they usually come up a lot during the winter and stuff.
Q: What did you do over the summer? Did you go anywhere besides Texas?
A: I went up to Maine. We have a house there, [which is] along a lake. We usually go up there, and one of my friends has a house up there too.
Q: So you like lakes better than beaches?
A: Yeah, definitely.
Q: Do you have a boat?
A: Yeah, we have a boat. It’s like a pontoon.
Q: How long do you go up to your lake house?
A: I play lacrosse in the summer so we usually go [from] time to time, for four or five days.
Q: Are you so into lacrosse that you might go for a scholarship?
A: Yeah, I think it’s something I want to pursue in college.
Q: Do you know what colleges you’re interested in?
A: Not right now. But I’m looking around locally.
Q: In about ten years, where do you see yourself? What do you think you’ll be doing?
A: I think I’m probably going to be in the business world.
Q: What fields?
A: I think finance. I’m not sure one hundred percent what.
