Q: So first, what’s your name and grade?
A: My name is Emily Wedlake and I’m a sophomore.
Q: So, if you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be?
A: I would say driven. I’m definitely driven for my schoolwork and my athletics. So I think that would sum up how I work daily for my homework and my athletics
Q: What sport do you do?
A: I do cross country and track and field.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
A: In 10 years? I’ve had trouble thinking of where I want to work as an adult, but I would say either as a teacher or somebody on the nurse-line of things. I definitely want to really make sure that I am, you know, healthy and things like that. Maybe running further in my career, but you know, things like that.
Q: Why do those things interest you?
A: That’s a good question. You know, now in high school, we’re really like, learning new things and exploring new careers. So those are some of the things that have kind of sparked me to nursing and teaching.
Q: And if you could have any meal with any person in the world who would it be?
A: I’d have to think. I’d probably eat ice cream with a runner named Elle Purrier St. Pierre. She’s an Olympic athlete. She is a distance runner. So I think it’s really cool to talk to her and see how she does.
Q: Why does she interest you?
A: She, not only she’s an Olympic runner, but she’s really a push for health and athletics and like mental health and things like that. So I think that’s really interesting. And I think it would be cool to hear her ideas and stuff like that.
Q: So you said you were really driven right? Can you expand more on that?
A: Yeah. So I really work hard with my grades and things like that. But not only grades, but again, athletics. So me and my cross country team and track teams, we really work all together to, like be driven as a team. So that’s the athletic side. And then again, for the school side, it’s just really working out my grades, and making sure I can do the best I can every day on tests and quizzes and projects.
Q: So you said you would have dinner with [Elle Purrier St. Pierre]. What do you really want to talk to them about with them and learn from them?
A: So as I was watching this runner I realized that she really pushes like towards the end of the race. So I would definitely wanna know some race strategies from her, but also again, like her mindset for the races, I think that would be really cool to talk about and she actually had a baby last year, so like, she definitely had to push more on the athletic side of things. So I think it would be cool to hear the whole story.
