8. Musical Equipment

If you have any musicians in your circle, gear is an easy present. While many instrumentalists are notoriously picky, there are certain things that could make great stocking stuffers, such as replacement strings (a store attendant can help you find good brands), tone oil, or maintenance kits. If someone is hoping to receive a new instrument, make sure it’s the kind that they want because instruments can be expensive. I recommend only buying a model that they have specifically requested, or getting them a gift card to their favorite music store.

7. Gift Cards

Yes, it’s the thought that counts, but sometimes being thoughtful means giving a gift that’s right for your recipient. A gift card lets your giftee choose what they want, giving them the best holiday ever. However, make sure not to be stingy about the amount.

6. Stuffed Animals

Even the most independent of us need some companionship in our life. If any of your friends or family has been particularly lonely lately, give them a stuffed animal. It may sound dorky, but it can keep them company, especially for younger family and friends.

5. Sweaters

My personal maxim is “you can never have too many sweaters.” While others may not live their life by this code, sweaters can keep your upper body warm while making you look utterly amazing. Fisherman’s or cable knit sweaters look classic and stand out in a twenty first century environment, and a marled or heather pattern makes a great muted focal point in an outfit.

4. Socks

While finding these in their stocking may make elementary aged children cry, warm socks are a necessity for the winter. For athletic types, there is a plethora of socks with anti-blister padding. For home wear, fleece socks take the cake; they’re soft, fluffy, and warm, with the added bonus of being vegan. In regards to wool socks, merino wool is softer and considerably less itchy than traditional wool.

3. Sports Equipment

Maybe your significant other has been talking about their ski boots not fitting, or your mom want warm athletic wear for winter runs. Whatever the situation, there is likely someone that you are exchanging gifts with who would love a sporty gift.

2. Boots

No sane person wants to trek through the snow in regular shoes, but many can’t justify spending the money for a good pair of boots. Keep your loved ones dry this winter, and put winter boots under the tree. As for brands, Sorel makes high quality footwear, and L.L. Bean Boots are legendary.

1. Electronics

For teenagers, electronics are a solid versatile gift. Young people tend to go through phones fairly quickly, and the holiday season is a great oppurtinity to replace any broken devices. Accessories are also an option: smartwatches, fitness trackers, phone cases, and headphones can make great gifts depending on the hobbies of the intended recipient.
