With Westford currently facing a $6-8 million deficit, the town will either need to acquire additional sources of revenue through a Proposition 2 1/2 override, or there will be severe cuts to school and town services. Large impacts at the high school level will be seen with less variety of classes offered, reduction in staff members, and increased class sizes. There will also be impacts to the support systems offered at the elementary and middle schools. With the varying opinions on how the town should handle this situation, The Ghostwriter asked students what their thoughts are regarding the issue.

Senior Meaghan Lu: “I honestly didn’t really educate myself that much on it so I can’t say for sure that everything I’m saying is true but I think that some of the classes they are taking away does do some students a disservice. For me, I personally am in Photography right now and I really like it, and I don’t think it should be taken away, but I guess its valid if not enough students are showing interest, then there are going to be some things that they are going to have to do. So, I understand why people are angry about it, but at the same time, you gotta do what you gotta do.”
