With the COVID-19 pandemic finally dying down, masks and COVID tests have become a less prominent part of most students’ lives. However, now that the cold and flu season has officially begun, more and more students have been experiencing bouts of coughing, sneezing, and runny or stuffy noses. Due to new COVID variants also developing and spreading, many families have reintroduced masks and nasal swab tests into their households. The Ghostwriter asked WA students whether they think masks and COVID tests are still necessary in 2023 or if they should stay in the past.

Senior Aaron Wu: "I think wearing masks shouldn't be mandatory, but people should definitely be wearing masks if they are feeling sick because things like the cold and flu are pretty contagious so if you wear a mask, you can stop the spread and make less people sick."
