Q: Have you been enjoying your time at WA so far?

A: I sure have. I love meeting my new colleagues, students, and getting to know the place, love it very much.

Q: What made you want to teach this subject (History)?

A: I’ve always loved history. I majored in it in college and I actually have my PHD in history and I’ve been teaching history on and off since around two thousand, so for a long time. I’m just interested about the past and how the past impacts the present and how the past can help us better understand the present.

Q: Why do you enjoy teaching this subject?

A: I love the conversations you can start with students about current events, connecting what’s going on today in the world with the past and looking at decisions people make in the past. Maybe about war or about making peace or about social issues and we can learn from that.

Q: Where are you from? Maybe you’re from a foreign country?

A: I am, I’m from Florida originally. I grew up in Florida and then I went to Boston College and I majored in history and philosophy of Boston College and then I went to graduate school in New York. So I spent some time living in the New York city area and I have been in Massachusetts now for ten years.

Q: Which high school are you from?

A: I went to Venice high school in Venice Florida. It’s very far away from here, very different world from Westford.

Q: What do you during in your free time? Like Hobbies.

A: I have three kids so I spend a lot with time with them and there are various activities. But I love to read, travel, I love to go on hikes, I also have two dogs and I might take them to the rail trail for a hike or a bike ride. I went to Porto Rico in the spring, my family and I are looking for another trip to take again in the spring.

Q: What is your favorite part of being a teacher?

A: The students are my favorite part of being a teacher and getting to know my students and help them learn and understand and grow, that is my favorite part of being a teacher.

Q: What made you choose to work at WA?

A: There’s a lot that made me want to work at Westford Academy. I love the sense of community here, it’s a very supportive environment, and I like the strong commitment to academics as well. It’s a very successful school and every person I’ve met along the way from when I started interviewing on (ford) I really enjoy getting to know.

Q: Was History your favorite subject during high school?

A: It was. My favourite class in high school was AP U.S. History.

Q: Do you have anything else to add? Like any facts.

A: I published a book this past Summer.

Q: What is the name of the book?

A: It is about Jazz in France after World War II.
