After teaching for 13 years in different school districts, Rachel Connerty, an interim teacher for math teacher  Brian Scanlan, is looking for a nice school like Westford Academy to start her permanent teaching career.

Throughout her 13 years of teaching, she has taught grades 9-12 in basic math all the way up to calculus, but at WA, she only teaches sophomores geometry and statistics to seniors.

Connerty started her college career off with the intention of being an engineer but soon realized that her true passion was teaching math.  She later went back to college to get her masters degree in teaching.  She is the first of her family to become a teacher.

The last school she taught at before coming to Westford Academy was North Middlesex Regional High School in Townsend, but because of the declining population, she came to Westford to find a more stable job.

“So far, […] everyone has been so nice to me. The students say thank you as they leave. The teachers have been incredibly helpful,” said Connerty.

Despite being part of Westford Academy, she still coaches the Groton Dunstable field hockey team.  Even with five kids and a dog named June, she finds time to read her favorite series, Harry Potter. Connerty enjoys going to her country house in NH during the summer. She also enjoys swimming, hiking, playing board games, and visiting family. In the winter she also likes to to go snowshoeing.
