WA is roaring with discussion about the success of Boys’ Basketball, who are heading to the State Semi-Finals on Tuesday, March 10 for a game against Putnam Vocational High School. Most of all, fans of the Ghosts are looking forward to the performance of fan favorites on the court, especially Co-Captain Eric McCord.

Putnam is highly seeded this season, and while fans are nervous about the game, McCord is confident in his team.

“We’ve definitely been kicking it into a higher gear during practice, we’ve been working hard all year but everyone on the team has been really focused lately, and we had been preparing well, focusing on the main goal of winning the State championship,” said McCord.

In addition to focusing on the upcoming playoff games, McCord is also focused on his future as a basketball player in college. He has already committed to Middlebury College, a D3 school, and is excited about the future of his career, especially with these bigger games on the horizon.

“I definitely think that playing in big games like this is going to help in college, and the farther you go, the better teams and kids you are playing,” said McCord.

The Ghosts’ upcoming games against tougher teams will prove to be a challenge for the team, but the team’s coach Chris Bramanti thinks that the games will provide the team with necessary experience playing at a higher level.

“It’s a great experience to have, and they will all be able to take this in whatever sport, job, or college, whatever they do,” said Bramanti.

Bramanti, in addition to making sure that the rest of the season for the Ghosts is as long as possible, is also looking forward to the future for McCord.

“I think that he won’t have a major impact right away, because the program that he is going to is an excellent program, but by the time he is done in four years he will be a bigger beast than he is now. That’s the one regret that I have […] I won’t be able to see him get to that level,” said Bramanti.
