The ceremony featured all eight players to score 1,000 points in the history of the program. These players included Kelley Gallo who scored 1,027 points before graduating in 1983, Carol Baresch with 1,890 points by 1986, Julie Shelvey who graduated in 1993 scoring 1,365 points, Elissa Larrivee with 1,016 points by 1998, Jessalyn Deveny with 2,195 points by 2001, Alyssa Jann who scored 1,503 points by 2007, Asia Ewing with 1,103 points by 2010 and current senior captain Samantha Hyslip.
During the ceremony, all players received a plaque honoring their achievement. A banner with all of the players’ names, years of graduation and amount of points scored was also revealed during the event.
The most recent recipient to achieve scoring over 1,000 points is current senior captain Samantha Hyslip. She was honored to be apart of the ceremony and has strived to score 1,000 points ever since she witnessed Asia Ewing score her thousandth point in 2010.
“It was one of the coolest things I’ve been a part of,” said Hyslip. “To stand up there with all those women who achieved it too was surreal.”
