Despite their tough loss against Chelmsford, the varsity football team is still expected to perform extremely well, with both the players and many other publications projecting another winning season with perhaps a division championship.
After their loss, the Ghosts used the loss as fuel when they defeated Catholic Memorial last friday 13-0, another impressive defensive performance.
The win was especially amazing because before kickoff nobody had much faith in the Ghosts, however a long run buy Justin Mount and a defensive touchdown secured the unlikely win.
“Our defense is extremely explosive.” said junior Nick Lynch. “Our defensive ends will be the best part of our d[efense].”
One problem however with the start of the season will be the suspension of senior quarterback Troy Faretra, who will be absent for the first two games.
In Faretra’s absence however, senior Justin Mount has established himself as the team’s most valuable player. Playing on almost every play before leaving the first game with cramps, from which he will be 100 % for the remainder of the season.
“Once Troy [Faretra] gets back we are going to very good.” said junior Alex Antes.
Although the offense has been shaky, the defense has been hyped by everyone on the team and after letting up 40 points, a rebound game is evident. Hopefully this does not become the trend for the year, because they will need to improve for the team to hopefully reach the postseason.
With the defense leading them the Ghosts will ride their surge in confidence and hopefully play at the end of the year at Gillette Stadium.
