With a new class advisor, biology teacher Jennifer Girardi, the WA class of 2027 will strap on for their 2024-2025 school year. This year, Girardi will be working alongside health and wellness teacher Cory Brown to advise the class of 2027. Together, they carry the goal of making high school as memorable as possible for all of their students.
Girardi will be filling the spot of the previous class advisor, Madison Davick.
“No one can ever replace Ms. Davick – she was a one of a kind, special person,” Girardi said. “I can however, promise to be there [for the class of 2027] over the next 3 years and help plan events that bond us together and make high school as unforgettable as possible.”
Some of Girardi’s goals are to help build classroom bonding by holding sophomore class activities and events like fundraisers and spirit weeks. Beyond that, however, Girardi believes one of the things she is most looking forward to is getting to know all of the students and making school more enjoyable for everyone.
“I’m looking forward to being someone that can help the sophomores bond and have fun versus worrying about academics,” Girardi said. “It feels good to create and make school more enjoyable. I can help get you through your years, you can stop by for anything you need, advice, candy, you name it. I’ll help you out the best I can.”
Last year, Davick and Brown worked together to organize events like the Six Flags trip, the freshman class shirts, and the spike ball tournament which were all widely accepted and participated in events. This year, the team of advisors have already started brainstorming for two large sophomore-oriented activities along with an idea for a new class of 2027 shirt.
“I am excited to have Mrs. Girardi as my co-partner for the Class of 2027. I am sad that Ms. Davick can no longer work beside me, but Mrs. Girardi is going to be fantastic to work with,” Brown said. “She has been a class advisor before, for the Class of 2008, so she is familiar with the role. We work really well together and have a great relationship so I’m excited to see what we can do as a team for the Class of 2027.”
