Snow Day Grader: January 24th
January 25, 2017
On Tuesday, January 24th Westford Public Schools had their first snow day of the year after being blanketed with snow. This snow day was not really expected as there was no real accumulation of snow and the snow that had built up had already started to melt.
Superintendent Bill Olsen first announced there would be a two-hour delay. However, not long after he issued that statement, he changed the call to no school. Most surrounding schools closed with some having 2-hour delays instead.
The snow storm started yesterday and lasted all the way up until this morning, however most of the snow did not build up and promptly melted once it touched the ground. There was a slight build up over night, however not much.
There was no real need for this snow day as a 2-hour delay would have accomplished what was needed to be done to clean up the roads.
Overall the Ghostwriter would give Olsen a B- for this call, as the road conditions were fine and the weather did not prove to be major hinderance.
