“The trouble in the art room, is that kids come in and they think it’s time to socialize, so they think their phones are part of socializing. [...] We don’t have any way of sort of controlling it, [...] and it’s really frustrating. [...] Even with clay on their hands [...] they really don’t care, it’s more important that they get in touch with whoever they’re getting in touch with. [...] It amazes me at the end of class you’ll see one table of kids, the last five minutes, they all have their cell phones out, not talking to each other at all. [...] I think it’s adding to kids not having any focus in class, because they just don’t have an attention span any more,” said ceramics teacher Julie Cook.
