Men’s Fall Fashion Trends

Crank up your style gentlemen

Garret O'Connor, Staff Writer

Want to kickstart your wardrobe but don’t know where to start? Here’s 10 tips to crank your style up to 11.

Pin Rolling Jeans

Your outfit is on point- your jeans fit great, your shirt suits your style– but the highlight of it all is the shoes. Pin rolling your jeans puts your shoes in the spotlight and lets you show a little ankle.

Joggers

Valley girls everywhere have their leggings & yoga pants, which they claim to be both fashionable and comfortable. Joggers are the closest thing to a male equivalent that there is today; part sweatpants, part real pants. Pair with a crew neck sweater for maximum lazy couture.

Beanies

Hipster? Maybe, but they’re certainly in style right now. Casual and simple enough to pair with any outfit, a beanie will keep you head warm but leave your face unobstructed.

Toques / Bobble Hats

The beanie’s Canadian uncle. Toques are timeless and offer the same practicality of a beanie with more warmth and the quintessential winter charm. With one on, you’ll feel like you’re eight years old and sledding on a hill again.

Bright Colors

I know what you’re thinking: colorful clothing is more fit for the Spring & Summer seasons. To that I say: you aren’t wrong. In the fall, everyone is wearing muted colors and earth tones, so something like a yellow raincoat would stand out– but that’s a good thing. If you’re blending in, you aren’t using fashion to its full potential.

Flannel Shirts

A classic of the cool months, flannels are a great way to stay warm without layering. Available in countless patterns and colors, there’s always one or two that fit your personal style. Common in workwear.

Chinos

The essential pants for men. Popular colors include grey, olive, and khaki. Chinos go with nearly everything, but as always, don’t pair like colors.

High Top Sneakers

Winter means cold weather, and with it comes frozen ankles are coming. High top canvas sneakers will cover up to the pant hem well and keep you looking great.

Cable Knit / Fisherman’s Sweater

Layers are always welcome. One of these sweaters in cream or pine is great to put over a plain or checkered buttondown. Be sure to put the collar of your shirt outside the sweater; otherwise you look like a fool.
