On Tuesday, April 7th, boys’ volleyball conquered Lowell in the second home game of the season in the third set.
The team began the game strongly by maintaining more than double Lowell’s points during the majority of the first set. Although this initial streak was broken towards the end, they finished strong 25-20.
Neck-and-neck at the beginning of the second set, both WA and Lowell were continuously matching each others’ points. However, WA rallied at the end to finish the set 25-19.
Lowell led the third set, but WA fought back to catch up. After a streak of 6 points, WA won the third set 25-16.
Even when it seemed Lowell might catch up to WA and win a set, the team persevered, winning the game 3-0. Reflecting on the game, Coach Russell Coward looks forward to the rest of the season.
“I think that we played pretty well. I think that the one thing we need to do is we need to play with a little bit more intensity, but as far as technically our passing, we are starting to get a lot better, and I’m happy with that. We’ll see what happens the next couple days,” said Coward.
