WA’s high school and rec ball teams squared off Thursday night in the annual Night of Roundball. It was an exciting night for Rec and school players alike.
The scores were not very close, however – the WA seniors’ Rec All-star team defeated the JV basketball team 51-15.
The teams exchanged baskets on the first possession but from then on, it was the seniors in charge of the game. Cole Barnshaw hit a deep 3-pointer early in the game to get the crowd and the senior bench cheering.
The Sophomore Rec All-star team faced off against the Freshman basketball team. The sophomores led 14-11 at halftime; however, the freshmen came out strong in the second half and won 40-20.
“I wish we had two passes in one possession,” said sophomore coach Tom Coppinger jokingly, “But really, I think all the kids had fun.”
