With 2024 coming to an end, the year has watched many fashion trends come and go. From summery tube tops, to Ugg boots and slippers for winter, to just about anything and everything leopard print, we’ve truly seen it all this year. Out of the extensive list of fashion trends that rotated in popularity throughout the seasons, here is a compiled list of the top five that will hopefully carry into 2025.
1. Off-the-shoulder sweaters
Coming in every style possible, an off-the-shoulder sweater is the perfect option for anyone wanting to feel cozy and look nice while doing so. With the option to dress it down with a practical pair of leggings or sweatpants or dress it up with a skirt or jeans, a classic off-the-shoulder sweater proves to be incredibly versatile. While I prefer a one shoulder sweater, there is also the option choose a sweater off both shoulders, and I find this to be better for a dressier occasion. These are widely accessible at stores nearby Westford like Aerie and the John Galt section of Pacsun, both located at the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, NH.
2. Adidas shoes
It feels like every year there are a multitude of new shoe trends I’m chasing after, desperately trying to keep up. One brand that caught my eye this year was the Adidas shoe line. Coming in specifically three trending styles: Campuses, Gazelles, and Sambas, anyone looking for a basic daily shoe should consider looking into Adidas. I opted for the Campuses and don’t regret my decision at all. While Sambas and Gazelles carry a more old fashioned look, the Campuses are able to incorporate some modernized features such as it being a chunkier shoe rather than small. I also find they are incredibly comfortable. The Gazelles and Sambas carry a similar look with different soles. It’s all about personal preference, but everyone is bound to find something that pleases them from the Adidas catalogue.
3. Puffer jackets
With the weather rapidly getting colder, I always find it can be a struggle to find the perfect winter jacket. It’s always either too big to carry, not cute enough to wear on top of my outfit, not warm enough for the strong Massachusetts weather, or one of about a million other reasons that usually just make me throw on a sweatshirt. But this is not always reasonable. After a long search last winter, I finally bought my North Face puffer jacket and immediately fell in love. Whether it’s walking to the bus at 6:40 a.m. on a cold winter morning or spending the day walking in Boston, a puffer jacket is the perfect option to keep warm while staying fashionable.
4. Tote bags
Sometimes, hauling around a big backpack isn’t appropriate, and carrying around a fancy purse isn’t sufficient. A perfect in between is a tote bag. These can be found practically anywhere for an incredibly affordable price. Some stores even give them to you as a bag when you leave the store, which is an excellent and sustainable option. No matter what your style is, I can guarantee you will be able to find a tote bag that matches your look, and they are perfect for any type of casual day outing. A great store that offers fashionable tote bags is Urban Outfitters at the Burlington Mall in Burlington, MA.
5. Jeans with pocket designs
Everyone loves a classic pair of jeans, but sometimes it can be fun to spruce up a basic item of clothing. One way to make your outfit more interesting is by wearing jeans with a design sewn into the back pocket, a trend which has recently been circling around social media. This is a perfect way to add a pop of color and catch people’s attention on an otherwise simple outfit. If you don’t like the idea of a patch design, look to the resurging 2000’s trend and go with a bedazzled back pocket instead. The options are endless. These may be a little harder to find in person so I recommend looking online at stores such as Beginning Boutique.
