After working at Tyngsborough Public Schools for seven years, computer technician Jamie Milne is ready to start his first year at Westford Academy. With a long-lasting passion for everything computer-related, he is excited to help people around the school in need of technological support.
Q: If you could be any ice cream flavor, what would you be and why?
A: Chocolate. I’ve always loved it.
Q: What was your high school experience like?
A: I was the quiet kid, I had a small group of friends, and then I blossomed in my junior and senior year. I started hanging out with the jocks and I was a part of some teams. I was the manager of the wrestling team junior and senior year, and then I did football and track.
Q: What drew you to those sports?
A: For wrestling, I had a good relationship with the coach and he asked me if I wanted to help out. And then the football coach had heard what a great job I did for the wrestling team and he wanted me to help out the team. For track, I just needed something to do in the spring.
Q: Are you involved in any of those sports now?
A: I’m a part of the Tyngsborough football coaching staff.
Q: How did your high school experience differ from what current WA students experience?
A: I’m sure it was different. It was a long time ago; around 25 years ago. I’m sure things have changed since then. Back then, we didn’t have Chromebooks, we had notebooks. I think the biggest technology we got was a TV being pushed on a cart to watch a movie.
Q: What was your favorite subject in school and why?
A: I liked math, I was good at it.
Q: Is there anything that drew you to WA?
A: I was looking for a job and it’s in my area. I have also heard very good things from other people about the Westford school district and when I told them the job was available, they said,‘You need to apply for that right now.’
Q: What led you to this career choice?
A: I have been into computers since I was five years old, so it was just natural that I would become [a computer technician].
Q: What does a regular workday look like for you?
A: I’m usually at the Chromebook window. I hand out Chromebooks, I help out teachers if they call, I go to the help desk and see if there’s anything I can do to help.
Q: What are some things you do in your free time?
A: I watch football and play video games. Right now, I’m playing [EA Sports College Football 25] on Xbox.
Q: Is there any football team that you support specifically?
A: Yes, my family and I have had season tickets for the Patriots for the past 25 years. This is actually the first year of not having them.
