Winter Ice skates into Littleton

Recently, I had the chance to visit Winter Ice at the Point, an ice skating rink that sits at the top of a hill. It was a small rink with well taken care of ice and a comfortable watching area.  I enjoyed being there, watching the little kids learn to skate on the white ice, along with potted plants and wooden benches surround the watching area.

Walking into the warm waiting area, nice employees greeted me with a smile and asked for my shoe size. From there, long benches allow for a comfortable area to put on your skates. Then, through a hallway with a special rug to make it easier to walk with skates, is the rink outside. It’s surrounded by a lot of gates to lead you to the rink.

For beginners, this is a great rink to learn and get lessons. For more advanced skaters, I suggest going elsewhere. Winter Ice is a very small rink, but large enough to enjoy it in the morning or early afternoon. As the day rolls on, the busier it becomes and the less enjoyable it becomes.

For those going with a group, The Tavern in the Square is right in front of the rink for light appetizers, like fried pickles or spinich and artichoke dip, as well as great entrees, from pizza to steak tips. It’s a great resturant to warm up with friends or with a date.

The pricing to skate is fairly low, $10 per person, $6 for 10 and under and for adults 65 and older. For skate rentals, each are $4.
